About
Based in Chicago, working with you however you need me.
I’m Isa Hernandez (she/they). I’m a trans, Latinx freelance sound designer, dialogue editor, re-recording mixer and field recordist born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I began tinkering with sound from a young age listening to my dad’s CDs on his Technics stereo system. I grew up with a passion for music and began playing drums at 13. This sparked curiosity for how to record music, so I started experimenting with my mom’s computer and a basic USB mic. I dived into field recording in 2016 when I attended my first Formula 1 race. From then onward, I brought my sound recorder anywhere I could to capture races, nature, trains, cities, and anything that perked my ears along the way. I have a great passion for collaborating with people and bringing their projects to sonic life. While I enjoy working independently, I also love bringing my experience to collaborative efforts with a team of any size.
In my free time I like to watch movies/TV, build Lego’s, read, and cook with my partner. I have two cats named Sparkie and Mason and a dog named Ditka.
I’m fluent in English and Spanish, and speak touch of German.
